Rev Billy Graham Rebuffed By Senator McCain?
Friends,
What would motivate John McCain and/or his staff to rebuff a meeting with Rev Billy Graham?
You can read all about the issue at the links below, but for the life of me I can’t imagine any common sense, respectable answer to dismissing Rev Billy Graham short of pure, raw, political correctness. Seldom is Rev Graham referred to as “Dr Graham”…but in keeping with political correctness, anything of a religious nature is to be avoided.
Senator McCain meets with all kinds of people but few that compel the attention, stature, and high regard held by most Americans for Rev Graham.
In true political fashion, Senator McCain lauds the accomplishments of Hillary Clinton, a politician that supports a litany of positions conservatives reject as well as most Americans. McCain voices accolades for all the advancement, support, and success Senator Clinton has made for women? What has Senator Clinton done of a positive nature for women? Seems to me she supports issues that most American women reject - most American women support childbirth, not killing babies. Who can envision a woman allowing a living baby to exit the birth canal while a doctor is ready to kill it with the gruesome brain puncture called “partial birth abortion”? Is Hillary Clinton really a role model for most American women or is she simply a media experiment?
It appears Senator McCain views association with Rev Graham as a negative impact on his campaign but the so-called “female” vote that Senator Clinton is alleged to command is really what McCain is after. My personal opinion has always been that Senator McCain is not too be trusted, will extinguish “right” for a vote, and will crush anything or anyone, to include deity, that gets in the way of his personal ambitions…America is not his focus, it’s John McCain.
You can read the article by Doug Wead at the first link below. The second link is the actual letter from McCain headquarters to the Billy Graham initiative, although I have printed it below.

Dear Mr. Jacobs,
Thank you for your kind letter offering to set up a personal meeting between Senator McCain and Dr. Billy Graham.
Senator McCain appreciates your invitation and the valuable opportunity it represents.
Unfortunately, I must pass along our regrets and do not foresee an opportunity to add this event to the calendar.
I know you will understand that with the tremendous demands on his time and the large volume of similar requests, events such as this are extremely difficult to schedule even though each one is important. However, we will keep your event in mind should an opportunity present itself in the future.
I know that the Senator would want me to thank you for your interest and to send his very best wishes.
Sincerely,
Amber Johnson
Director of Scheduling
John McCain 2008
