I agree with you Tim.......but as you suggest, the power hungry foxes would be required to clean out their own hen-house....seems akin to asking the pigs to stay away from the trough.

Term limits are desperately needed but how can we convince the Congress to give up their "golden egg"?

I am no McCain fan and I agree with your assessment of the 2008 election. How would you feel about 12 year term limits for US Senators and US Representatives serving in Congress.

I think that's the answer to prevent these power hungry, selfish, only care about their re-election. It it's good enough for the POTUS, it should be good enough for the others too.

Dear Col. Riley, Sir:

Thank you for your letter to John McCain ... it is refreshing in its entirety. I would only ask that one more demand be made, or rather one more plank be added to the Republican Party platform and that is to TAKE OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS BACK.

My son is in 10th grade so I have a current on-going perspective of what the schools are attempting to do.

First they are telling our children that the United States form of government is a Constitutional Democracy .... WHICH IT IS NOT ... we have a Constitutional Republic. I have a document that lists the "core values" of a Constitutional Democracy ... such as: "All citizens have .... economic equality which tends to strengthen political and social equality for extreme economic inequality tends to undermine all other forms of equality and should therefore be avoided" NOW WHAT IS THIS? ... I call it Communism and that is what is being taught to our children.

The school have also allowed an extreme homosexual advocacy group GSLEN to infiltrate our schools couched in an "anti-bullying" campaign ... now beyond the normal respect for the true nature of boys and their natural ribbing and jostling and horseplay, I disapprove of bullying as much as the next mom ... but to tie anti-bullying to teaching that GAYS ARE EVERYDAY PEOPLE TOO ... is flat out wrong ... Our high school kids are hormonally charged and basically shy of the opposite sex ... this is a terrible time to teach them that homosexuality is normal ... AND our schools do not have a mandate to engineer social norms ... their mandate is to educate our children in the sciences, in math, in reading and languages, etc., etc.

And, the most recent insult is that the high school hosted a rally for Barrack Obama .... without any conservative counterbalance at all ...

I am sick and ashamed of our public schools and tired of paying to have my son exposed to this insanity. I want it changed but I am just one person. I would love to have the support of someone fine and admirable like you Col. Riley.

Thank you again,

After reading your post I feel moved to respond. This comment is to all the average Americans.

Sitting on your comfy couch, enjoying that TV? Complaining about the news, politicians, whatever? You see them all throughout the media on TV, newspapers, and internet. You don’t agree with them, but there’s nothing you can do about a war half a world away. You’re only one person; you don’t make much of difference, right? Besides it doesn’t really matter to you. You don’t know any one over there. Just leave them alone in Iraq and they’ll stop hating us, right?

Let me tell you it can happen to you. It happened to me. I was an average American. My husband and I lived the American dream. He had a good paying job, one that he loved doing, our own home, a wonderful young son, his pride and joy, and a newborn baby girl, Daddy’s little princess. We had just gotten over a rocky patch in our marriage and things had been wonderful for the last 9 months. We had it all. Then over there came over here and in a blinding flash of jet fuel and building debris is was gone. Everything that made my life whole was stolen from me.

I supported our military before 9/11 in little ways, but politics never interested me. I voted every year, but I never really got involved. It was too messy, nasty and vicious. They were all the same crooks anyway. Now I know better.

I never had time to really get involved, I had a husband and kids to take care of. I had a house to clean and things to do. Now I know better.

I really didn’t have the money. I had bills to pay, you know cable TV, internet. My kids needed new toys. Now I know better.

I hope and pray that you never have to learn the way I did.
