America - A melting pot or a tower of babble?
Congress has scored a record low poll approval rating of just 14% - the lowest ever recorded in the Gallup Poll’s history. Congratulations Senators and Representatives…based on your performance, particularly on the Illegal Alien issue, you are nearing the true low standard America really views Congress…in a word, shameful.
I would be remiss by failing to note that President Bush’s approval with America is not much better…lower than ever with a rousing 24% I believe.
This low satisfaction level America has of Congress is not difficult to understand after watching the US Senate in action today working on the Energy Bill legislation.
I will cite two examples: At the conclusion of a vote on an amendment to the Energy bill today, the majority leader, Senator Reid took the floor and announced he had important information…I assumed he was ready to remark on the Energy legislation….no, Senator Reid announced that Senator Lautenberg, D-NJ vote on the last amendment made Senator Lautenberg the holder of a title: Most votes in the US Senate of any US Senator from New Jersey, ever…Reid went on and on for ten minutes praising the wonderful, incomparable Senator Lautenberg as if the Energy legislation was completed. If this wasn’t disgusting enough, after another amendment vote, Senator Reid again took the floor and indicated he had a major announcement? Energy legislation? Nope, this time he announced that Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia had just recorded his 18,000th vote in the US Senate…….another ten minute rambling, gushing, mumbling account of how wonderful Senator Byrd represented his home State of West Virginia…Reid didn’t mention Senator Byrd’s past membership as a Ku Klux Klan leader…
My observation is that America is being totally misrepresented, abandoned, and betrayed by the US Senate. The Senate leadership of both Republican and Democratic parties has convinced America, 86% of us, that they are a bumbling lot, just about able to walk and chew gum at the same time…it is absolutely discouraging, painful, and approaching hopelessness that anything but devastating pain for America will come out of the US Congress.
The Immigration Bill will be up again soon, same song, same tune…Are there levels of common sense? If so, I believe “closing the border, turning off the faucet as the first step” is just about simple enough for anyone to understand…except maybe Congress. Unfortunately, we can expect the Reid, McConnell, Kennedy, Kyl, McCain, Lott, Graham gaggle to be pushing as hard as possible to provide illegal aliens a gift of amnesty. We have some strong support opposing the bill in Senators Sessions, Vitter, Dorgan, McCaskill, DeMint…at least they were influential in the last showdown.
With 86% of America telling Congress they are off course, way off course, they just don’t get it…at least they won’t admit nor reflect in their actions they get it…does they sound like a “of the people, by the people, for the people” body? The US Senate is reflecting an attitude more akin to regimes and enemies around the world we have been fighting for decades because of adversary unwillingness to allow constituents a vote, assuming absolute power.
The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) was launched in March of 2005; North American Union…Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin, Mexico’s President Vincente Fox, U.S. President George W. Bush, held a joint news conference at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, March 23, 2005 discussing the North American Union, NAFTA Super Highway, from Mexico straight through the middle of America all the way to Canada…open borders. All this stuff being carried out in quasi secret, international agreements being made without consent of the governed…the US Senate Immigration effort to open, not close American borders is in support of these agreements that have never had a Congressional Committee hold the first hearing…America as we know it…a sovereign and free nation will be lost forever if the Bush Administration and Congress have their way.
President Bush and the US Congress is selling out America, ignoring tried and true principles of governing that has made America the envy of the civilized world, and both the Administrative and Legislative Branches of government has taken on the attitude and reflection of power unto themselves, not of the people.
“So through the night rode Paul Revere;
And so through the night went his cry of alarm
To every Middlesex village and farm,—
A cry of defiance, and not of fear,
A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door,
And a word that shall echo for evermore!
For, borne on the night-wind of the Past,
Through all our history, to the last,
In the hour of darkness and peril and need,
The people will waken and listen to hear
The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed,
And the midnight message of Paul Revere”
Where do we stand my friends? We need to do some serious soul searching as America approaches a darkening future. As for me NO MORE AMNESTY, NO DISGUISED SNEAKY SMALL PRINT, NOT NOW, NOT EVER.
God bless America, our warriors who battle for our freedom while Washington D.C. leadership do their best to surrender.
